We’re on a mission to create the world’s best water soluble cannabinoids.
Scroll down to read our story and learn about what sets us apart.

It all starts with a seed.
Hemp is the starting point for all of our cannabinoids. We source extracts from organically grown hemp in New York.
-
We source all types of CBD from full spectrum, to broad spectrum, to CBD isolate. Our emulsions are designed to handle a variety of unique inputs.
-
Minor cannabinoids like CBN, CBG, and CBC are gaining more traction with consumers. Our team can help source these unique cannabinoids for emulsion development.
-
Terpenes are becoming a popular ingredient for both flavor and function. We can create water soluble products from terpenes and other botanicals.

From hemp farm to tech farm.
Our lab is partnered with Cornell University, providing unique access to leading science and innovation.
We’re located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, with our headquarters located just outside of Rochester. Our lab is part of Cornell University’s Agriculture & Food Technology Park, which works with local technology companies to support food and beverage innovation. This partnership gives us unique access to academic research and testing equipment, to ensure the highest quality of R&D every time. Cirona Labs is a licensed hemp processor in New York and is cGMP certified.

We’ve created hundreds of unique emulsion blends.
Emulsification has emerged as a common technique to convert cannabinoids into a water soluble ingredient. However, not all emulsions are built the same.
Certain blends are a better fit than others, depending on what you’re making. The ingredients used, cannabinoid potency, and packaging type can all affect your emulsion.
Cirona Labs has developed over 600 unique formulations to deliver an emulsion ingredient that’s custom built for the product it’s powering.
We infuse into one of two forms…
Liquid Emulsions
Spray-Dried Powders
…designed for all types of different products.
Beverages
Tinctures
Gummies
Powdered Mixes
Topicals
Animal Products

We use science to solve common emulsion problems.
Bitter Taste
CBD and other cannabinoids can have a bitter note, which can leave an unpleasant aftertaste. Getting taste right is essential for any food or beverage product.
Optical Clarity
Many emulsions are cloudy or hazy, but for products like a sparkling water or a seltzer, a more transparent product is preferred.
Inconsistent Effect
People often ask, “will CBD work for me?”, and the answer is, it depends. If the CBD isn’t properly formulated, your body may never have the chance absorb it and the results may be disappointing.
Stability & Shelf Life
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Data-driven results.
In July 2021, we commissioned a pharmacokinetic study on a mammalian model that compared Cirona Labs emulsion against more basic and crude emulsion systems.
Emulsions from Cirona Labs work faster and achieve better results than simple emulsions or oil tinctures. Based on this study, we believe consumers will feel the effects from CBD sooner and get higher CBD levels in the bloodstream.
We use data to drive our new innovation, staying on the cutting edge of R&D and food science to develop new iterations of emulsion technology.

FAQs
-
CBD stands for cannabidiol, a compound found in the hemp plant. Unlike THC found in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive, so it does not change a person's state of mind when they use it. CBD has emerged as a common functional ingredient in a number of different consumer products, including tinctures, gummies, and beverages.

As we all know, oil and water don’t mix well together. CBD needs to be solubilized in water so that the oil and water particles hold together over time. Among the available technologies, emulsification is one that has been used quite often for similar tasks in the pharmaceutical and food industry. Emulsions are all around us, from salad dressings to medications.
-
Different types of products have different chemistries, ingredients, and production techniques, which all need to be considered when choosing a water soluble emulsion. For example, a cold-brew coffee, a grapefruit juice, and a flavored seltzer might react differently to the same emulsion ingredient. We have developed over 700 unique emulsions, so we can develop the perfect fit no matter what the product.
